     INFORMATION

RAGS2RICHES RAGDOLLS ARE BRED FOR PURR - SONALITY

DISPOSITION:   The Ragdoll cat has a gentle disposition and the ability to relax its body like a child's Ragdoll, hence the name Ragdoll. This gentle cat is very docile, yet it is also a very active cat that absolutely loves to play.  It easily learns to fetch and loves the "wand" like toys that require you to play with the cat. To relax, they love to stretch out on their backs, legs spread wide apart and take a little nap. If you like a little shadow following you all around the house, then a Ragdoll is certainly the cat for you. The Ragdoll generally loves being with people and gets along quite well with other animals and children, providing they are not overly aggressive toward the Ragdoll.

APPEARANCE:   The traditional Ragdoll is a pointed cat with blue eyes. They are born white, getting their point colors gradually in the first few weeks and then obtaining full color at about two years of age. Full maturity of size takes 3-4 years. Ragdolls are a large domestic cat with males usually weighing 14-18 pounds (sometimes 20) and the females 8-14 pounds. Rags2Riches Ragdolls are available in the following colors and patterns.  You may see these colors and patterns in my photo gallery.

COLORS:

SEALPOINT: Dark brown to black points, light to medium brown body color.

BLUEPOINT: Medium to dark blue-gray points, light to medium blue-gray body color.

RED/CREAMPOINTReddish tone to the points, very light body coat.

TORTIEPOINTThe tortie's have a mottled appearance in the point markings and also through out the body.

PATTERNS:

COLORPOINT:   Has no white on the body and the feet are the same color as the  rest of the points. The body color is a lighter version of the point color.

MITTED:   Same as colorpoint except the feet are white and the cat should have  a white chin.  Some mitteds may have a white blaze between the eyes or on the nose.

BICOLOR: Has a white upside down "V" ( /\ ) on the face and the chest, stomach and front legs are white. Width of /\'s will vary.

LYNXPOINT:   It is actually an additional pattern of stripes appearing over the normal patterns as listed above.  In addition to the stripes it has white eyeliner  around the eyes, the whisker pads are mostly white, the nose leather is a pinkish to red brick color and there is no point color in the ear.  Many people refer to this as the Tabby pattern.

HEALTH GUARANTEE:   All kittens are examined by my veterinarian before leaving for their new homes. They will also be eating well and will be litter trained. The kittens are FELV/FIV negative and they will have had, at least, their first FVRCP (better known as Distemper) vaccination.   All kittens are sold with a TWO-year from birth health guarantee. Should your kitten develop any congenital or genetic defects, it must be verified in writing by a licensed veterinarian and if  for any reason the kitten should die an autopsy from an accredited laboratory must be furnished and the kitten will be replaced with a healthy kitten of same quality or better as soon as possible.  Even though my vet has examined all of my kittens prior to their leaving, a new buyer should take the kitten to their own veterinarian within the first 3 days of sale if they are in anyway concerned about the kitten's health.    Within this time frame you have a money back guarantee should your veterinarian say that you do not have a healthy kitten.   I also have no objections to anyone checking with my Veterinarian as to the health of my kittens or about my integrity.    Just ask and I will give you their number.

REFERENCES:   If you are not familiar with the Ragdoll and would like to talk with some current owners, I will be happy to furnish names, locations, e-mails and phone numbers of several of my customers. Many have been to my home to see how the kittens are raised and many have bought the kitten sight unseen, allowing me to pick the kitten for their individual family situation.  If I do not have a kitten for you then I will gladly recommend another reputable breeder. My best to all of you and to any wonderful Ragdoll kitten you may soon bring into your home.

RAGS2RICHES RAGDOLL CATTERY  is a member of the RFCI (Ragdoll Fanciers Club International).  All kittens are registerable with TICA (The International Cat Association), ACFA (American Cat Fanciers Association) and CFA (Cat Fanciers Association).  Pet buyers will receive a registration with one of the above registries.  My cattery name could not be listed as RAGS2RICHES WITH ACFA and CFA so I chose to go with RAGSNRICHES for those two registries.

PRICING and AUTHENTICITY:    Kittens are priced individually, depending on the kitten's pattern and whether he/she is sold as a pet, breeder or show.   Ragdolls are a medium priced cat.   They are not a cheap cat by any means but they are not the most expensive either.  If a kitten is not registered as a Ragdoll then I seriously doubt that you would be purchasing a PURE Ragdoll.  Therefore, always make sure you can receive registration papers from the breeder.  If you can't then you are probably dealing with an unethical breeder or a mixed breed cat.  It never hurts to check out the breeder, ask for references or ask them who is their veterinarian.   One way to check out a breeder is to check with fellow breeders in that state or area.  There are some people who breed cats just as a hobby who think that if a cat has a Ragdoll disposition that it is called a Ragdoll.  This is completly false.  A Ragdoll is a registered breed all in its own right.  There are also breeders who purchase cats as pets, not as a breeder.   Then they breed these cats and sell them.  They do not have the background/pedigrees on these cats and they don't really care if they are a correct breeding pair.  They can not receive papers on these kittens because they do not have breeding rights.  Beware of these type breeders.  They may sell their kittens cheaper but you don't really know how healthy they are genetically and you probably have a breeder who will not guarantee the kitten or stand behind the guarantee if there is a problem later.

I would also like to say that you should never purchase a Ragdoll from a pet store.  A breeder who would allow their kittens to be sold in that manner can not possibly care about their kittens.  Most pet stores buy from puppy and kitty mills and I am sure you have heard the horror stories on TV about those mills.

A $100 deposit is required to hold a kitten for you.   For a breeder, the deposit is $250.    Many people ask if I will contact them when my kittens are born.  I am sorry to say that  I can not keep a list like that as I would have too many people to call.  Also, I generally have several deposits already in place when a litter is born so therefore, I would not need to contact people.  A deposit lets me know that someone is really serious about purchasing a kitten.  I do not cash the deposit checks until after the kittens are born and we have decided on a particular kitten for you.  Then I will deposit the check and it is non refundable at that point.  Prior to that the check is returnable.

If I can answer any more questions that I have not covered in this information please e-mail me below.  Please let me know you have seen my web page and how you found it.  Also I like to know where people are located when they contact me.   Please do not take offence if I ask you many questions even if some sound personal.  I am not trying to be nosy but am just very concerned where my kittens are going and into what type of household they will be living.   Especially if you have children or other pets, you want a kitten that loves a childs attention.  Most Ragdolls like all kinds of attention from humans and other pets.  They are not loners.
